2Way handcrafted folding knife Helmut Pirklbauer
2Way is a custom knife by Helmut Pirklbauer. Finding a Pirklbauer's knife is a great success for a collector, the Knifemaker rarely leaves the borders of his native Austria and makes folders from time to time. This is a rare author's modification of a push-dagger, each piece of which the master is distinguished by delicate manual work.
The custom combines the functions of a push dagger and an EDC folder. Usually, the push-dagger is a T-shaped fix, but Helmut Pirklbauer made the blade movable, with the possibility of fixing it in two positions.
The master used a convenient Button-Lock mechanism in the design. You can open the knife fully or place the blade perpendicularly — the push-button lock will securely fix the folder. In addition, the 2Way folds up, hiding the cutting edge in the handle.
The short blade is sharpened on one side. This shape is ideal for punching loads, but it also has an excellent smooth cut, so it's good for daily use. Pirklbauer used N690 steel, which is referred to as Austrian 440C. This alloy is famous for its high corrosion resistance, it can withstand fracture loads well, knives made of N690 do not dull for a long time.
Pay attention to the design finish: the blade grins with a sharp row of teeth. The master polished the cutting edge in a triangle pattern.
The shape of the handle is perfectly combined with the sharp lines of the blade. To lighten the weight, Pirklbauer removed the backspacer, and the handle frame consists of steel liners and bushings. Scales are made of black carbon fiber with a soft touch effect.
The name of the master is engraved on the steel clip. The wide clip secures the knife to your pocket tenaciously and gently.
The 2Way is a rare example of a double-lock folding push-dagger. The custom knife will be a great gift for a collector of unusual knives and a faithful assistant during trips.
