The luxury of Damascus in a designer flipper from Sweden

Tender  —  is a creation of a Scandinavian knifemaker. If there are knives that deserve definition, the author's work, then these are the knives of Vladiс Daniluk, a brilliant blacksmith of Russian origin from a Swedish village. Vlad works in an old smithy built at the end of the 18th century. Among these ancient walls, Daniluk creates fancy patterns of mosaic Damascus and then turns them into unique works of knife art.

The custom knife Tender looks light due to the smoky pattern. However, in fact, the flipper has an impressive weight (246 g.). The rhombus of Damascus steel resemble the ornament of a Scandinavian sweater, and the wavy edges echo with the white lichen of northern Swedish forests.

The pattern of the handle exactly repeats the pattern of the blade. To achieve this perfect match, Daniluk forges a separate package of mosaic Damascus for each knife. The slightest carelessness, defect at least of one detail - and the master has to start the process from the beginning, welding several layers of steel into a new package and repeatedly reforging it.

Despite its exquisite pattern and delicate name, Tender is truly functional. In shape, this is a real puukko - a traditional knife of the Scandinavian peoples. So you can skin a deer, and rip up a trout, and clean up a stake. The difference from the ancestor is a folding blade, for the opening of which is used the small flipper. One press - and the knife is easily brought into working position. The steel plate of the liner lock fixes construction.

Tender is fine custom work. The lace pattern of mosaic Damascus will compete with the winter patterns on the frozen windows. And reliability and functionality turn the knife into a faithful friend of a traveler or an urban tramp.
