Prototype Double Edge Out-the-Front Knife by Anthony Marfione
An automatic out-the-front prototype knife with a front-opening system by Anthony Marfione — the great and formidable. The knife was presented at the SICAC knife show in Paris in 2018, where we acquired it directly from the maker himself.
American Master Anthony Marfione and his company Microtech hardly need a lengthy introduction. Microtech's production knives and Marfione's custom pieces are about as well-known in the knife community as Apple or BMW are to the general public. Arguably, no other knives in the world — not even Spyderco — can boast as many cameo appearances in cinema: The Long Kiss Goodnight, Men in Black, The Dark Knight, Quantum of Solace, John Wick — the list goes on and on.
The piece presented here features a double-action system: the slider located on the handle not only propels the blade forward when pushed away from you, but also retracts it automatically on the return stroke. Fast, smooth, reliable, and fiercely stylish. That's exactly why we love front-openers.
The blade is a double-edge dagger-point with a perforated fuller and a mirror-polished finish. It is crafted from M390 powdered metallurgy steel. With a blade length of 75 mm, this one stays on the right side of the law.
The handle is made from 416 stainless steel with longitudinal hand-rubbed satin finish, light-reflecting carbokvartz inlays, and hardware plus glass-breaker crafted from anodized titanium.
The steel pocket clip is engraved with the maker's Marfione Custom Knives logo, the individual serial number (010), the date of manufacture (September 2018), and the word PROTOTYPE.
The knife comes complete with Anthony Marfione's signature presentation case, a certificate in the form of an engraved metal plate, and a soft carrying pouch with a metal logo patch.
