Custom by Sergey Shirogorov with a three-layer laminate blade
Before you lies a collector's dream — a custom knife crafted by the hands of Sergey Shirogorov, Blade Show 2019 winner and founder of Shirogorov Knives. The master's signature and the date of creation are visible on the inner side of the backspacer. Further proof of authorship — the signature hardware with the "goose foot" slot, an indispensable hallmark of Sergey's customs.
The knife's design evokes Lake Baikal in late autumn — when ice floes layer upon the shore like steel grades upon the blade, and the dark November waters conceal transparent frozen shards that echo the texture of "marble carbon."
The beauty of the decoration is not the only — and perhaps not even the main — virtue of Shirogorov's work. "Baikal" is first and foremost a knife that has stepped beyond EDC into the realm of tactical knives. The custom steel laminate, ultra-strong titanium, and zirconium — this knife is a warrior and a workhorse, not a shelf-bound delicate piece.
The blade's swift flight is the work of double-row roller bearings (DRRBS). A smooth, effortless flip concludes with a melodic click — the sound of the reliable frame lock engaging. The lock spring is protected by a hardened steel insert.
The drop-point blade features full-length grinds. This shape excels under piercing loads and is also renowned for its strong, even cuts. Strength and edge retention are ensured by the custom laminate — a three-layer steel "pie" prepared by the renowned St. Petersburg blacksmith Mikhail Anosov. The cutting core of the blade is forged from D2 steel.
The handle combines the warm texture of black carbon fiber with the cool blue of anodized titanium. A bridge between the colors is formed by the textured marengo-colored zirconium backspacer. The ergonomic handle shape, combined with jimping on the spine, guarantees excellent control and minimizes slipping.
The decorated titanium pocket clip, with its milled pattern, is secured by a concealed screw. It slides easily onto the pocket and doesn't fray the fabric.
"Baikal" is a rugged beauty with Siberian charisma — a highly functional tool crafted personally by Sergey Shirogorov. Unsurprisingly, it has become part of the store's personal collection.
