The amazing mechanics of the Steampunk Titanium Iris custom
Stefan Steigerwald is a genius knifemaker from Bavaria. His works are physical incarnations of steampunk fantasy. It's known how difficult to keep the pureness of the steampunk concept, avoiding props and eclecticism. Steigerwald knives are products with active mechanics, including hydraulic elements. The author exclusively creates each knife by hand.
A harpoon-like blade is made of Damascus.
The material of the handle is blue-bronze adonized titanium. It has a multidirectional satin finish.
The axial part of the frame pulls the tail, reducing the length of the handle during deployment. This mechanism is similar to the rocker drives of old steam locomotives.
Almost every detail is dynamic. For example, the lookout hatch on the right side has a locking latch. A movable clockwork is located on the axial part.
Steigerwald's works are works of art, like complex automaton mechanisms popular in the 18th-19th centuries. Many of them adorn museum showcases nowadays. Stefan's work is nostalgic for the bygone aesthetics of mechanisms from the dawn of the industrial era and their romantic halo.
Fancy design and outstanding engineering solutions will not leave indifferent any connoisseur of Victorian aesthetics. Steigerwald's works are firmly assigned the status of collectible rarities on a global scale, going beyond the knife collecting. This is a very expensive gift for true connoisseurs of art in all its forms.
