Black knife-bracelet by Hidetoshi Nakayama
The knife-bracelet is an original men's accessory — a bracelet that conceals an assassin's dagger, albeit with a very small blade. The creator of this unusual custom accessory is the renowned Japanese master Hidetoshi Nakayama. The artifact was commissioned by the Maria Stalina® brand and arrived straight from the international New York Custom Knife Show 2019.
Every component of the body is handcrafted from premium Japanese stainless steel. The surface is stylized to resemble antiquity through deliberately rough texturing and skillful blackening. On the reverse side, the characters 英俊 gleam — the master's signature.
The knife is locked inside by a proprietary spring mechanism executed in a steampunk style. To extract the blade, press the lever of the curious machine and slide the dagger out by its thumb stud. Then flip the blade and insert it back into the housing with the reverse side facing outward.
The bracelet is fitted with a black leather strap from the Japanese company Mimosa.
Nakayama's knife-bracelet is a custom accessory that blends the mastery of the East with the charm of the West. The unusual mechanism, "antique" décor, stylish steampunk silhouette, and the hint of a wristwatch — all distinctly European features. While the level of craftsmanship reflects the traditions of Japanese netsuke miniature art.
