Symbols of luck and wealth — the Hitori Koi titanium pen
The Streltsov P&A Hitori Koi tactical titanium pen is a colorful, multi-layered work by Dmitry Streltsov — at once a stylish writing instrument, a talisman, and a concealed tactical tool. The "Hitori" series is dedicated to the aesthetics of the Land of the Rising Sun — the mystical and wise Japan. Only 12 Hitori Koi pens were ever made, 11 of which are available at the Maria Stalina Knives store.
Each Streltsov creation is endowed with its own unique narrative. The name Koi gives away the protagonists immediately — brocaded koi carp, the beloved fish of the Japanese. On the titanium body, through masterful engraving, a pond is depicted — lily pads unfurling on its surface, while golden carp swim majestically through the crystal-clear water. Notice the loving care with which every detail is rendered — every pebble on the bottom! The serene scene is brought to life through five-color anodizing: the pebbles of the pond bed in chestnut and clay tones, the leaves shimmering with green and azure, the blossoms glowing with "silver," and the five carp shining in bright "gold." The color of the fish is no accident — the golden koi is a symbol of luck, health, and perseverance in pursuit of one's goals. The number of carp is equally symbolic — representing the five great elements in Buddhism: earth, water, fire, wind, and sky.
There is also a hidden character in the pen. Notice the textured body, whose shape mimics a young bamboo shoot. Look at it from the end — and you'll see the face and tiny paws of a most charming little frog, crafted in bas-relief from white metal. The frog, in Eastern tradition, is a talisman of wealth.
The pen can also serve as a stress-relief tool. First, its body has a "soft-touch" feel — the velvety surface invites hours of idle stroking. Second, the opening ritual — involving the screwing and repositioning of several components — is reminiscent of playing with a simple construction set.
And of course, one must not forget the Hitori Koi's defensive properties. When closed, the robust titanium body transforms into a yawara — a palm-held Japanese self-defense tool, offering reliable personal protection.
