The Typhoon has undergone several modifications over the years — our dark beauty belongs to the first 4-inch generation. This flipper with its 10-centimeter blade captivated audiences in 2014, snagged two Blade Show awards, and made its maker famous. And while Reate Knives in China is eyeing serial production of the Typhoons, we're offering fans of custom knifemaking a chance to own a knife crafted personally by Brian Nadeau.
The Typhoon Dark Blue's flip is like the beat of a snowy owl's wing in the polar night. For that "flight," you can thank the extremely comfortable triangular flipper tab bearing the maestro's monogram. The action is fast and precise. The blade effortlessly springs from the handle and locks solidly in place, gripped by the reliable frame-lock mechanism. You can safely apply pressure to the spine — the lock has your fingers covered.
The blade shape is a lightweight, perforated drop-point. American CPM S35VN powdered steel ensures edge retention and excellent wear resistance. This flipper won't need sharpening for a very long time — and when it finally does, the choil at the end of the cutting edge will protect the blade from scratches. Another notable feature: the jimping between the spine and the flipper, which serves as an excellent thumb ramp.
