The custom Trabant Mini Prototype from Kukin for your collection
Trabant Mini Prototype is a custom folder made by Alexey Kukin. The knives from Kukin are popular among collectors and knife lovers in the world of Russian custom knives.
The presented knife is one of the Trabant mini items, which are smaller and lighter compared to a standard Trabant batch and also features a blade that doesn’t exceed a handle’s length. The name of the knife is translated from German as “satellite” and is associated with a car model that was considered (not by everyone though) as the pride of the East German car industry. The quality and ergonomics of Trabant Prototype have never been doubted, which you can’t say about the popular namesake car. Kukin’s product is a practical handmade folding custom knife with a stylish and recognizable design.
Trabant features a drop-point blade made of American stainless powder steel S125V. Chrome and vanadium make this high alloy tool steel hard. Blade’s finish is a longitudinal handmade satin.
Titanium and micarta were used for the handle. Canvas-Micarta is one of the composite fiber compound materials. It is light, shockproof, and thermally resistant. Micarta handle lies comfortably in your hand and won’t slip away because of its finely embossed surface.
The prototype combines its collectible status and characteristics of the folding EDC knife. The compact, light folder might be easily fixed on your pocket by a clip.
