Steampunk custom Cyrax with the author's mechanism
Cyrax is a folding custom knife by Manufactory S&L, equipped with a very remarkable mechanism.
The bronze handle is a rail panel, along which the blade moves during extraction. For greater clarity, the principle of the blade's progress can be compared with the course of the tower of a bridge crane.
The blade is made of RWL-34 steel and has dagger-point form with a pyramidal cross-section and straight descents. The blade is clamped between the handle of the product and the steel spring panel while opening.
The inner flat side of the blade has a milled ornament with satin. On the outside of the blade there is a trough-rail, along which a steel roller is rolled in the end of the liner panel. Exiting the gutter, the roller runs along the base of the blade with a characteristic click and jumps out of the blade, after which the spring supports the wedge in the lock. The lock is opened by pressing the finger on the locking panel through the round hole in the handle.
Such a lock device was named Glissando-Lock, from the name of the technique of playing the strings and keyboards, when the musician slides his hand over the frets or the keys of the instrument, extracting a special sound.
The spring material is stainless steel 95X18. There is a steel clip with a bronze denticle on the top. The back of the clip is satin. The knife fittings are made of titanium and bronze.
In the upper part of the handle adjacent to the blade located steel roller that prevents wear of the tip of the blade when it is removed.
