Compact version of steampunk custom knife Cyrax
This is a prototype knife Cyrax Jr. has a front opening mechanism. A blade moves along the rail frame due to a special detail in a tang. In the closed position, the blade is clamped between the frame and a pressure spring with a steel roller at its end. When opening, the roller moves along the groove in the blade till a spring locks the blade in working position. It is necessary to lift the spring clip by pushing it through a hole in the handle to close the knife. This is how the author's Glissando-lock works. It was named after a technique for playing keyboards and strings, based on sliding movements along the keys / frets of the instrument.
The blade of Cyrax Jr. is made of stainless Damascus steel by the Swedish concern Damasteel AB. “Ladder” pattern. The blade was shaped as a dagger-point with a pyramidal section and straight descents. A groove-rail runs along the "top" of the pyramid. The flat side adjoins the surface of the handle.
The frame is made of patinated bronze. The spring and hardware are made of 95H18 steel.
This collectible folding knife has no decorations outside of the context of its mechanics. Each detail of the product is precisely a part of the mechanism, and not an element of technogenic decoration. Do you want to make an original and impressive gift for a collector?
