Hydra XL knife from Les George with mokuti bolster
This giant Hydra size XL is in all senses a big work of art. The custom folder was made in a single copy by the outstanding American knifemaker Les George.
Premium materials and the author’s work unequivocally classify Hydra XL as a collectible knife. As soon as you put the folder in your hand, you’ll irresistibly want to start using it. And that is a fair wish. Hydra XL is an excellent cutting tool that also has great hacking qualities due to its over-300-gram weight.
The moving of the opening knife is mesmerizing. Push the stud with your thumb and obedient to your will the blade is smoothly coming out of the handle. The open knife is fixed tight with a titanium Frame Lock.
The clip point blade is made of premium Damascus, which has great toughness and corrosion resistance. Its dark wavy pattern resembles a stormy ocean.
Bolster takes after the blade’s pattern. Here though there isn’t a dark storm, but the dawn waves. The sunny pattern is a result of premium Mokume — copper shades of the material go perfectly with the outstanding inlay of polymerized wood.
Rich decorations emphasize the deliberately discreet décor of the reverse side of the handle. Titanium triumphs here in all its natural beauty. Titanium was used for a wide clip as well, which fixes the knife on your pocket comfortably.
To make the design and the process of cleaning easier Les George replaced a backspacer with the standoffs.
The folder comes with a black zipper case.
