Fabrizio Silvestrelli is a representative of the Italian school of knifemaking, famous for its precision jewelry and exquisite design. Each Fabrizio knife is a finished work of art, every detail of his delightful folders is handmade. Fabrizio Silvestrelli's knives are exquisite perfection, the best examples of fine art knifemaking.
Fabrizio Silvestrelli does not remember a time when he was not obsessed with knives. He was 8 when he created his first knife from three details. In 1988, a promising young artist began to try his hand at knifemaking. It was a hobby for him in the beginning.
It was not easy, he fought with every kind of material, trying to turn the workpiece into perfection. Among his teachers, Silvestrelli names the master Francesco Pagani, who not only patiently taught the art of metal, wood, and bone purification but also helped students to get first-class materials.
In 2004, Fabrizio Silvestrelli started to live in Lecco, a beautiful commune on the shores of the famous Lake Como. From this moment begins Fabrizio's career as a professional knifemaker. A year later, Silvestrelli designed several models for the company Tecnocut di Maniago.
Fabrizio believes that a true work of art cannot be created without passion. Silvestrelli thinks that the main thing for an artisan is not to stop searching, to discover new shapes and liven up them.
The master insists on the modernity of his designs. He creates a lot of both folders and knives of a fixed design. The master prefers to make blades from powdered, high-carbon Swedish steel RWL 34, stainless "American" 440B, or expensive 440C. In addition, the master is happy to work with manufacturing and designer Damascus.
For the inlays, he prefers such substances as antler, mammoth tusk, pearl, valuable wood. Sometimes he adds skillful engraving for the scales. One of the best examples of collaboration with an engraver is the bolsters decorated by artist G. F. Pedersoli. Also, collectors highly appreciated the expensive folding knives created in collaboration with Luca Casari, the engraver of the famous weapons company Beretta.
The highlight of custom knives from Fabrizio Silvestrelli is the careful fit and rounding of the rollers, inlays, and handles as a whole. Such processing serves aesthetics and protects natural materials from damage and changes in size. Another feature of the maestro is the high class of grinding and polishing of knife parts. Fabrizio adorns the blades with a lengthwise hand-made satin finish. He polishes every screw to shine. Fabrizio Silvestrelli admits that such a technique takes a lot of time, but the result is an artifact that has every right to the proud title of "custom".
The master is the president of the legendary Italian Guild of Knifemakers (CIC). The knifemaker personally organized the famous Knife Show in Milan.
The Maria Stalina Knives is pleased to present a collection of knives whose price is worthy of their perfection.
