Mick Strider Custom Knives is an American knife brand, manufacturer of custom and semi-custom knives, founded by former military man Mick Strider. Mick is a legendary figure in the knifemaking industry. His knives have been among the most sought-after in the market for over three decades. His custom designs adorn elite collections around the world. Mick is a welcome guest and VIP at the biggest knife shows.
Strider served in the US Army. An injury forced him to say goodbye to his military career. In the army, Mick formed his idea of what a tactical knife should be from the point of view of a professional. Once in civilian life, he used his experience to create fixed-blade tacticians. Strider sold his first custom knife in 1988, and six years later in 1997, together with fellow veteran Duane Dwyer, founded Strider Knives, Inc., which was eventually renamed Mick Strider Custom Knives. The brand specialized in powerful fixed blade tactics that have received acclaim from the US security forces.
In 2003 Mick Strider took part in the development of tactical folders for the US Marine SOCOM. Mick sets out to create a folder that is as strong and reliable as a knife with a fixed blade, and he solved this problem with honor. This is how his legendary folder, Strider SMF (Special Mission Folder), appears. Since that time, folding knives become important in the company's assortment.
The "indestructible" Strider SMF has gained immense popularity not only among the military but also among civilians. Having caught the wave, the master develops new models, experimenting with the shape of the blade, handle, and mechanisms. For blades, Strider uses the best powder steels: CTS-204P, CPM S30VN, CPM S35V. The blades are tempered using the technology of the famous Paul Bos. Durable handles are made from titanium, carbon, and a variety of composites. Since Mick Strider Custom knives are designed for aggressive use, special attention is paid to corrosion resistance. Already in the first models, the blades are protected with an oxide coating, which, in addition, has an anti-reflective effect.
Mick Strider Custom Knives is eager to enter into collaborations with other renowned brands. The results of such collaboration invariably delight knife fans and are sold out by collectors. A prime example is the painted SNG tactic, embellished with a Starlingear sketch and bead. The company participated in a collaboration with the legendary Buck Knives. Also, together with Zero Tolerance and Knifemaker Ken Onion, a limited edition of knives was created, part of the sale of which was donated to paralyzed veterans. Thanks to this collaboration, Mick Strider, Ken Onen and Zero Tolerance received an award from the respected Blade Magazine.
