We Knife Co is a Chinese company with 20-year-old history. The company specializes in producing high-quality EDC folders. Manufacture produces serial and semi-custom folding EDC knives, tactical fixed and neck knives, tactical pens, lanyards and lanyard beads, spinners, and chef’s knives made of premium multilayer Damascus (67 layers).
Shall we start the story from the beginning? Cheap labor and effective industrial management made China the world's industrial center. The number of orders for production in this country has been increasing with the perfecting tech and professional base. China started making not only consumer goods but also high-quality products at orders of luxury brands. With time, local talents got in the business (would have been stupid to live in the most technological country and not use it). That is how some of the original brands were born: Xiaomi, Huawei, Lenovo, and We Knife Co. The last company does not only make folding knives of decent quality but compared with the EDC knives from American and European brands.
We Knife Co was founded in 2000 in Yangjiang, Guangdong Province. Guangdong is an area with the 4th largest sub-national economy in the world. This province provides tax relief in many situations and has great connections with the international market. No wonder the founders of We Knife Co chose this business paradise to grow in.
Rules were set from the very beginning. It was decided to develop the company with all the modern technologies. The company is equipped with the best machines: CNC mills, electrical discharge machining, cutting machines, laser and chemical mechanical polishing machines. A significant part of the company’s income was regularly put back in the business to renew the facilities – that always was the rule in We Knife Co.
Despite its great machinery, the main secret of the company’s success was always people – the team of We Knife Co. Without doubt knife designers play a super important role in it. This is where We Knife Co shows itself as a company with international policies. Designers from all over the world create knife shapes and forms for the brand (for some reason there are no Chinese designers though). Ukrainian knifemaker Ivan Braginets is the author of the flipper Caliber, American master Nate Matlack has created the form of the fixed neck knife Vaquita, Dutch Gudy van Poppel is responsible for EDC knife FEROX, Pole author Rafal Brzeski designed folder WASABI, stunning futuristic design of Pleroma was made by Elijah Isham from the USA.
Materials that We Knife Co uses in the manufacturing process are not too various, but always of high quality. Handles are usually made of titanium 6AL4V and carbon, rarely of wood. The limited range of materials is counterbalanced by stylish décor. The company applies colored anodizing and decorative milling. For the blades are used different types of steel: Chinese analog of D2, American (CPM-S35VN for example), and European steels (including Bohler M390). Satin finish and diamond-like DLC-coating (frequently partial) are often chosen for finishing.
The company from the beginning was willing to conquer international markets, starting from the American one. Love for firearms and cold weapons is an extremely important part of American culture. No doubt, it could not be easy to win in a competition with a knife market trendsetter. We Knife Co did it with high quality in combination with low price. The path to triumph was long but fruitful. We Knife Co. has been actively participating in all significant knife shows and increasing the number of their distributors year after year. Finally, in 2018 knives with the emblem consisting of 3 horizontal and 3 vertical lines won 2 awards at Blade Show West in Portland (Oregon): “Best industrial manufacturer of folding knives”, “Best industrial manufacturer on the show”. After only a year, the company’s new EDC folder won the “Best innovative foreign design” at the Blade Show in 2019 in Atlanta.
