Meteorite and the amazing engineering of the Steampunk Spall Electra knife

The new steampunk creation of the Bavarian Master Stefan Steigerwald is a custom collectible Steampunk Spall Electra knife.

The main design feature of the Steampunk folding knives is the extendable handle, the length of which is shortened when the blade is pulled out. The handle features the rocker mechanism. It is starting to move and pulling the tail of the handle to the front when the knife is unfolded. The principle of operation of the mechanism is similar to the device of driving wheels of steam locomotives.

The classic drop-point blade is made of Damascus by Hank Knickmeyer.

The frame is made of meteoric iron. It has an octahedral crystal structure. The first fragment of the material was discovered in 1906 in the Swedish district of Norrbotten, named Muonionalusta from the name of the river Muonio, where it fell. The physicochemical analysis found that the asteroid hit the Earth at least 14 thousand years ago (several scientists believe that this happened much earlier, up to 1 million years ago).

The details of the mechanism and hardware are made of timascus and anodized titanium, inlaid with red stones. The author added Electra to the name because there is a glass bulb with a mercury level on the right side of the frame. When the mercury ball closes the contact inside the container, a strip of LEDs lights up on the handle.

There is also a classic toy on the right side. When you change the tilt angle, balls are coming into pits. Just in case it isn't enough for someone that this is a METEORITE KNIFE!

It is difficult to imagine a more status gift for a person who is fond of collecting antique astronomical devices and knife fantasy art. A blade of kryptonite, maybe :)
