Clown Greatness in beads by Svetlin Stefanov & Maria Stalina ®
Svetlin Stefanov is a Bulgarian master of metaphors. There is a subtle irony in his work. Each work of Stefanov embodies the contradictory features of human nature. It could be expressed in the faces of characters, or whole scenes on a piercingly familiar social or romantic motive. His genre is close to the fables. It seems he is following the stories of the Bulgarian and Russian classics, often echoing the fairy tale, social and everyday aesthetics.
Svetlin works with wood. Fortunately, the master enthusiastically accepted our proposal for collaboration. Based on Stefanov's statuette "The King and the Jester", was created a design for a folding knife based on the Geidu model of our Manufacture, and metal lanyard beads and rings. We carried out a 3D scan of the original product to preserve the author's proportions and facial expressions of the characters.
The material of the beads is copper, bronze, and white metal.
The jester smiles nonchalantly, he doesn't care about anything. The king, on the contrary, is puzzled and confused, his face depicts incomprehension and anxiety. No wonder the clown is higher than the king, who fell in his arrogance. The clown laughs tirelessly over him.
The message, it would seem, is unambiguously clear. However, what if you change places? Shall we get the King, with a smile of condescension looking from the throne at fools? And why is the Jester still so lightheartedly cheerful? Perhaps he indulges a royal person? Or is he still laughing at the imaginary greatness?
The meaning in Stefanov's works is always been reading between the lines. The last word wasn't told. Svetlin provides each of us with a reason for deep reflection. Isn't this art?
