The vintage lighter customized by Rick Maverick
An artifact from the Starlingear Corporation takes us back to the days when a lighter was not a soulless little thing, which is casually bought at the gas station. In those years, gentlemen carved a spark from works of art. A lighter was considered a part of the image, an irreplaceable accessory, like a watch or a cigarette case. People bought it mindfully, and passed on by inheritance from father to son, from grandfather to grandson.
Starlingear’s founder Rick Maverick turned the flywheel of time, mixing modernity and antiques, the brutality of bold skulls, and the sophistication of ornate lace in his creation. The Starlingear Lighter is an absolute custom made exclusively by Rick himself, as evidenced by two signatures. One autograph is at the bottom, the second is made of copper soldered to the back of the lid.
The body is made of white metal, which does not cause allergies and has antiseptic properties. Orange peel texture and black patina create an antique effect. The "raid of centuries" has touched almost all elements of the lighter. The master effectively combines "mirror" polish and patina to emphasize the relief of the decor and give the lighter an antique look.
The composition is built around the Slickster Skull, the famous character of many of the brand's accessories. Distinctive features of the hero are a sly squint and a charming white-toothed smile. The skull is made from the same material as the body, the same hypoallergenic metal used to create the Starlingear logo (a gear with the letter "S"), located under the character. In total, the lighter has three branded gears: one more on the side and one at the bottom.
The rest of the decor elements came to us from the last millennium — a brass oval frame with a Slickster inside it, a round copper plate surrounded by an Art Deco pattern — a place where the future owner will place his monogram, bronze floral patterns on the back and a loop, and a round element on the lid. The treasures were found at the Portland flea market. They were created by Oregon craftsmen in the 1920s. These decorations remember the jazz heyday when the stars of Duke Ellington and Charlie Parker rose in local clubs.
Is a stitched brown suede case with polished bronze gear, a metal warranty card, and a signed certificate. Zippo's mechanism is inside.
The Starlingear Lighter is a one-off kind work of art created by the hands of Rick Maverick. The lighter will be a great gift for a man with a sense of style. It will light a fire in the eyes of both a brutal biker and an elegant businessman.
