At first glance, the Cicada Dark Gray is a cute trinket in the shape of a cicada — but in reality, the titanium abdomen of the insect conceals a sharp "dagger" forged from premium European steel. Moreover, this miniature flipper stands out for its unusual mechanics and handle construction.
Weighing just 70 grams and measuring 8 centimeters when closed, the "Cicada" looks stunning as a pendant on its owner's chest. Yet its striking appearance in no way diminishes the knife's functionality. The robust, expertly sharpened blade handles a multitude of daily tasks — whether at home, in the office, or out on a stroll.
The folder's construction is a non-standard take on the flipper. The role of the flipper tab is played by jimping on the blade's rounded tang. The opening process of the "Cicada" is a tactile pleasure — you can snap the blade out with a sharp flicking motion using the jimping, or perform the same action with a relaxed, smooth glide.
The knife opens and closes with one hand. In both positions, the blade is secured by a reliable locking mechanism operated by a button on the handle.
The blade features a single-bevel edge and a matte surface finish. The dagger-like profile is forged from M390 steel — a product of Austrian metallurgy that frequently appears on custom collectible knives. This steel grade offers high corrosion resistance and is renowned for its long-lasting, aggressive cutting performance.
Complementing the blade's finish is the pleasant texture of the titanium handle, whose frame is of integral construction — forged from a single block of metal. The bolster is crafted from the same material.
The handle surface is adorned with artistic texturing depicting the cicada's body. The wing membranes are highlighted with "gold" anodizing, while the eyelets and pivot collar combine gold and blue tones.
