Starlingear Custom Ring by Maria Stalina®
Founded in 1998 by Ryk Maverick, Starlingear Corporation has become one of the most recognizable names in contemporary jewelry. The brand is known worldwide for its bold, unapologetically masculine designs—bracelets, rings, Zippo-style lighters, lanyard beads, and other distinctive accessories. Its clientele includes musicians, actors, entertainers, and collectors who appreciate craftsmanship with attitude.
This Starlingear Signature Series SOB Vintage Spoon ring, designed by Ryk Maverick, is a true one-of-a-kind piece. Customized exclusively for the Maria Stalina® brand, it remains part of our private collection.
The ring was transformed with hand-engraved floral scrollwork accented by yellow-metal skull details. A gemstone was set into the skull’s left eye socket, while a crown of spikes gave the design an even more aggressive and unmistakable character.
The stone setting and additional metalwork were carried out by renowned St. Petersburg jeweler Maxim Ryabkov, winner of JUNWEX 2018, where he received First Prize in the Religious Art Objects category.
For the engraving, we turned to our longtime friend Olaf Pas (Oleg Pas), an exceptionally talented engraver from St. Petersburg and a craftsman with whom we regularly collaborate on the conceptual knives produced by SIL® Manufactory.
Olaf's contribution went far beyond decorative embellishment. Using traditional relief engraving and precious-metal inlay techniques—particularly demanding on a low-melting base material—he created a richly layered composition full of depth and detail. He also refined and reworked the sculptural features of the skull, enhancing its presence, expression, and sense of movement.
