Tabargan 100NS — the all-purpose knife
The Tabargan 100NS is a full-size production folder from Shirogorov Knives, featuring a premium Japanese steel blade, a titanium handle base, and soft-touch carbon fiber scales.
The knife is named after a stocky and remarkably agile Baikal rodent. And like its namesake, the Tabargan 100NS is built for life in the harsh wilderness.
Most Shirogorov Brothers Workshop knives feature bearings in the pivot. In that regard, the Tabargan is an exception — it runs on bronze washers. The blade deploys via a comfortable thumb stud that naturally falls under your thumb: a light circular motion — and the folder is open to its full, considerable size. The substantial four-inch blade is held securely by a simple, easy-to-use spring-loaded Axis lock.
The blade features the Shirogorov team's favorite profile — a practical drop-point with a triangular grind. It's crafted from Japanese ATS-34 stainless bearing steel — a material that delights knifemakers with its high corrosion resistance, excellent chip resistance, and exceptional edge retention. The finish is a transverse satin on the wide grinds.
The solid titanium handle liners are stonewashed and adorned with tactilely comfortable high-quality carbon fiber scales. The black backdrop is enlivened by accents of light titanium hardware. The smooth contours of the handle, combined with the index finger choil, make it highly ergonomic and comfortable to use.
A substantial steel backspacer is integrated into the handle spine, its stepped texture enhancing grip traction against the palm.
The folder is secured on the pocket by a titanium pocket clip coated with a black PVD protective finish.
