With pride and pleasure, we present to you our new project – the custom folding knife Rhino T. Manufacture caliber Rhino T with “Alpha” design would be produced in 5 copies, each of them crafted by Nikolai’s hands with the active participation of Maria in the management and manufacturing process.
Manufacture caliber Rhino T designed and produced by the Manufactory S&L has 2 main features: recognizable design and author’s lock which has no analogs in folding knives construction.
The blade is made of elite Swedish powder steel RWL-34 from Damasteel and hardened by the manufacture S&L according to Damasteel’s recommendations. The blade has a complicated designer shape, labor-consuming in manufacturing and decoration. Blade’s elements that feature different finishes as stonewash on flats and grinds, hand polish of the fuller, give particular charm to the tool.
The ergonomic steel thumb stud for knife opening might be relocated from one side of the blade to another (for the pleasure of the collectors who open the knife with their left hand) and adjusted to the right angle for the comfort of use.
Scales are made of titanium grade BT-6 and decorated with a complex engraved pattern of Lomachenkov authorship which is not only beautiful but has a practical purpose: it provides better grip and makes the knife lighter (as well as cutouts on the inner surface of the scales). The same material and design were used for the pocket clip which supports the handle's motif.
The design of the tool allows one to easily open and close the knife with one hand as the majority of EDC do. Yet unlike the dominant on the market frame locks and liner locks, this knife does not require to push aside in a particular way the spring that is buttressing the tang end. Instead, Rhino T's owner more naturally and elegantly presses the textured part of ricasso right under the pivot screw and then pulls it. The lock is unfixed, the knife starts folding. To protect your fingers from the falling cutting edge from the traumas that happen quite often with other constructions, authors prudently created an intermediate stop point where the blade pauses moving. In the authors’ opinion, this feature gives the knife one additional characteristic – you can use the tool as a fidget device by closing and opening it multiple times. That is the work of the manufacture pivot screw and lock system, the original features of which can be named as a hidden mechanism of blade fixation, spring working as a backspacer, and blade’s “pit stop” while folding.
The knife butt features a steel glass breaker with a lanyard hole.
The knife comes with a branded box with a design from the famous artist Vitaly Ilyin (aka Barandash), a certificate of authenticity, and branded microfiber cloth.
