The history of the brand began in 2015, when the renowned Belarusian knifemaker Nikolai Alexandrovich Lomachenkov met with the creators of the Saint Petersburg project Maria Stalina®, led by a collector known in the knife community as Papa — the owner of the registered trademark Maria Stalina®.
At that time, Nikolai Alexandrovich was independently creating his own original knife models alongside his regular work.
However, it was this meeting in Saint Petersburg that marked the birth of a new phenomenon in the Russian custom knife world.
A decision was made to establish a small manufactory focused on producing technically sophisticated folding knives for discerning collectors and connoisseurs of original mechanics.
Papa became the project’s visionary and patron, while Lomachenkov relocated to Saint Petersburg, where he was given the opportunity to elevate both his creative work and production standards to an entirely new level — professional, engineering-driven, and deeply artistic at the same time.
From the founding of the project until the end of 2022, the face of the brand was Maria — the charismatic manager of the online store and an essential part of the company’s creative identity.
Together, these three individuals formed the original core of what, within the project and with a touch of gentle irony, came to be known as the Collective Cognitive Creative of SIL Manufactory®.
Over time, a creative and business alliance emerged, bringing together:
— SIL Manufactory® — original folding knives of complex construction;
— Maria Stalina® — accessories and the aesthetics of contemporary knife culture;
— the Maria Stalina Knives online store — a space for collectors, enthusiasts, and those who value exceptional handcrafted workmanship.
Over the years, the team evolved and expanded.
Engineers and craftsmen, designers and photographers, programmers, marketers, copywriters, and managers joined the project.
Each of them contributed to the development of the SIL Manufactory®, Maria Stalina®, and Maria Stalina Knives projects and brands.
Today, these projects form a unified group connected by a shared philosophy and vision.
The group collaborates with well-known knifemakers and manufacturing companies, participates in major knife exhibitions, and its pieces can be found in private collections around the world.
From the very beginning, the primary objective of SIL Manufactory® was to create custom folding knives under its own name — knives in which engineering thought, artistic vision, and flawless mechanics exist as a single whole.
Today, SIL Manufactory® remains faithful to its founding principle:
to create objects of uncompromising quality, possessing a vivid character and a distinct aesthetic of their own.
