Mad Russian Heads (MRH) is a young brand from Yekaterinburg, Russia, creating stylish accessories for knives.
The brand was founded by Dmitry Streltsov. In fact, MRH is one of the divisions of his company, Streltsov P&A, which first made a name for itself with its unique tactical titanium pens. Streltsov's writing instruments vary in size and decoration, but the distinctive shape of a pen leaves limited room for bringing all of a designer's creative ideas to life. Miniature sculpture, by contrast, offers far more freedom.
The range gradually expanded. Under the Streltsov P&A name, the company began producing men's jewelry and accessories: rings, chains, prayer beads, and bracelets. The brand also began making what may well be the world's first tactical chopsticks. These luxurious titanium utensils come in a variety of designs and finishes: some are solid, others are modular and detachable; some are minimalist, while others are adorned with tiny sculpted figures. Lanyard beads eventually joined the lineup.
At first, the knife accessories had no single concept or consistent visual style. A cartoon mouse might sit next to a skull-shaped cartridge case, a futuristic gravitsapa, or a zombie bear. Gradually, however, a distinct zoological theme began to emerge among the ever-growing selection of beads. A helmet-wearing angry hare and a bear in a baseball cap won the hearts of knife enthusiasts. Dmitry Streltsov decided to bring these animal heads together under a separate brand.
The characters of Mad Russian Heads are more than just strange little creatures. They are one big, unruly family representing the people of the Urals — a harsh land where compromise is not an option. There's the mighty bear Vasyan, the battle-worn cat Morda, the indignant hare Kosoy, the aggressive boar Pyatak, the cheerful horse Andryusha, the cheeky hedgehog Nakhal, and the nasty rat Khvost. Every one of these characters was designed by Streltsov and dedicated to the people of his native region.
MRH products are made using the same production facilities as the rest of the Streltsov P&A lineup. The beads come to life through several stages. A creative idea first takes shape as a 3D design, which is then turned into a physical model and a casting mold. After casting, each piece receives its final hand finishing, including engraving, polishing, and anodizing.
Like Streltsov's pens, the standard Mad Russian Heads lanyard beads are primarily made from premium titanium. Limited editions, capped at just 10 pieces, can feature bimetal sculptures combining titanium with high-quality bronze. Surface finishes include intricate multicolor anodizing and localized copper plating.
